Beginning Friday night against LSU, all of the Alabama volleyball team’s home matches will be televised the rest of the season.
WVUA 7, Tuscaloosa’s only local station, will televise UA’s home matches with LSU, Arkansas, South Carolina, Auburn, Ole Miss and Georgia. Alabama’s home match with Tennessee will be carried by CSS and the Tide’s match with Florida will be broadcast by Fox Sports Net Florida.
“When it was first proposed to me I was elated that WVUA wanted to broadcast an olympic sport live,” Alabama head coach Judy Green said. “I was thinking it would just be a couple of matches but when they told me that they wanted to broadcast all of the SEC home games, I was elated. I hope we can use it as an educational tool to help people to understand the game of volleyball better, in hopes that it will make people want to come out to the CAVE and see a live match.”
Alabama’s weeknight matches will be shown live, while the Tide’s Sunday matches will air on tape delay. Chad Anderson of WVUA 90.7 FM will broadcast the matches.
