Tide Defeats Belmont 3-0 in BSC Challenge

The Alabama volleyball team ran its record to 11-1 with a 3-0 (30-22, 30-22, 30-22) victory over Belmont (8-7) Saturday morning in the BSC Challenge in Birmingham. The Tide has won 11 straight matches, just one short of its modern era (1989-present) record set in 1995.
Alabama controlled the match, holding a 52-31 advantage in kills, out hitting the Bruins .276-.039 and holding 14-4 edge in block assists.
Sophomore Bridget Fuentez (Tomball, Texas) led a balanced Tide attack, notching her fourth double-double of the season with 12 kills and 10 digs. Crystal Hudson (Hueytown, Ala.), Rachael Green (Ooltewah, Tenn.) and Kelley Potter (Edgewood, Ky.) each had nine kills. Jessica Yearout (St. Maries, Id.) had a match high 17 digs and Amy Pauly (Burr Ridge, Ill.) added 11 digs.
Belmont was led by Lindsay Cleveland and Ashley Collier. Cleveland led the Bruins with 12 kills while Collier had 16 digs.
Alabama wraps up competition in the BSC Challenge tonight at 7:00 against host Birmingham-Southern. The Tide will be looking to capture its third championship of the season. Live stats for the match can be seen at www.rolltide.com.
