Alabama used four second half goals, two from SEC leading scorer Libby Probst, to defeat in-state foe Troy by the score of 5-0 for the second consecutive season and run its record to 4-1 on the season.
It wasn't a pretty win by Alabama, but the Tide still managed to dominate play all afternoon, allowing the Trojans to take just four shots while the Tide mustered a season-high 29 shots.
"We didn't play well today," Alabama head coach Don Staley said, "but we'll take the victory."
Probst collected her second game-winning goal of the season just 7:19 into the match. Sophomore Jordan O'Banion connected with Probst five yards in front of the net and Probst did the rest.
The 1-0 score help up through halftime before Alabama unleashed a flurry of shots that produced four second half goals.
"I don't think we executed early on to put this thing away like we should have." Staley said, "We were missing some of the energy we had on Friday night. The main thing today was our execution, which we didn't have early on."
That all appeared to change in the second half. After Probst connected with Kylie Boyd at 52:46, O'Banion hooked up with Probst again, with a little help from Chelsea Stang, to push the lead to 3-0. The goal gave Probst her second multi-goal game of the season and moved her into third all-time at Alabama in goals scored with 25 and fourth in points with 63.
"I'm just getting real lucky this year," Probst said. "I just keep working hard and my teammates are finding me. I think our team is working better together, and because of that, we are able to find more goals."
Susie Beard and Suzanne Baker each added goals in the closing minutes to put the match out of reach.
Alabama will continue its current four-match home stand next weekend as it takes on Nicholls State Friday at 7 p.m. and Mercer Sunday at 1 p.m. Both matches will be broadcast on 90.7 WVUA.
