Coach Mark Gottfried with U.S. Troops in Kuwait

Operation Hardwood "hoops with the troops" is a double-elimination basketball tournament made up of teams of servicemembers from the eight Kuwait military camps. Each team is coached by an NCAA basketball coach, who flew over seas to coach and mentor the teams as well as visit with troops.
Coach Mark Gottfried was the coach of the Camp Navistar team during the Operation Hardwood basketball tournament Aug. 29-31 at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. The other coaches were Tom Izzo, Bobby Cremins, Kelvin Sampson, Bobby Lutz, Mike Jarvis, Dave Odom, and Jay Bilas.
