The Southeastern Conference has announced the senior Crimson Tide sprinter Roland Burks has been named to the 2005 SEC Good Works Team.
The Good Works Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to her community in superior service efforts.
“I’m very proud of Roland,” said Alabama head men’s track coach Harvey Glance. “We teach our student athletes to give back to the community and to graduate. He’s an outstanding representative for our program.”
Burks, a native of Southfield, Michigan, has spent time visiting the VA hospital. He is the secretary/treasurer of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. He also volunteered for the Halloween Extravaganza for kids, helping area children trick or treat.
