A trio of Alabama track and field athletes shone brightly at the 20th annual Central American and Caribbean Senior Track and Field Championships held in Nassau, The Bahamas.
Seniors to be Tahesia Harrigan and Aymara Albury along with 2005 senior Chafree Bain all finaled in their respective events.
Harrigan, competing for her native British Virgin Islands, grabbed the silver medal in the 100m dash with a time of 11.29 at the Thomas Robinson National Stadium, grabbing a spot on the BVI team that will compete at this summer’s World Championships in Helsinki, Finland.
“Tahesia had a great junior season, and she has obviously not slowed down a bit,” Alabama head coach Sandy Fowler said. “The World Championships will be a great experience for her and will set her up nicely for an outstanding senior year.”
Bain, who competed at her first NCAA Championships this past season, has also kept things rolling along. Competing for the Bahamas, she took the bronze medal in the discus throw with a toss of 155 feet and four inches. She was also sixth in the hammer throw with a 179-05 effort.
Albury, the school record holder in the shot put, also competing for the Bahamas, was sixth in the shot put and seventh in the hammer throw with tosses of 52-07 and 175-06 respectively.
