Former University of Alabama forward Erwin Dudley came one rebound short of a double-double Saturday night in NBA Summer League play in the Reebok Vegas Summer League.
Playing for the LA Clippers, Dudley scored 12 points and had nine rebounds in the Clippers 74-68 loss to Phoenix. The Uniontown native who graduated from Alabama in 2003 made five of six shots from the field and played 28 minutes. In the Clippers first summer league game on Thursday night, the 2002 Southeastern Conference Player of the Year scored eight points and had six rebounds in 25 minutes on the floor.
Three other former Tide players are involved in the NBA's summer league play in California. Kennedy Winston is playing for the Memphis Grizzlies. Emmett Thomas, a 2004 Alabama graduate, is playing in Southern California's Summer Pro League for a team called P. Miller, and Kenny Walker, a 2003 Alabama graduate, is playing for Play2win.
Thomas, Dudley and Walker all played professionally in Europe this past season, Thomas in Belgium, Dudley in Israel and Walker in New Zealand, Sweden, and Yugoslavia.
