Etoot Advances to NCAA Championship Finals in 800m

University of Alabama junior Peter Etoot qualified for the finals of the 800m at this year’s NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships after finishing 12th in the preliminary round of the event.
Etoot finished in a time of 1:49.54 placing him 12th among the 16 athletes that advanced. The 800m finals are scheduled for 9:30 p.m. CT Saturday evening.
Freshman Augustus Maiyo wasn’t as fortunate however. He posted a 25th place finish in the preliminary round of the 5k with a time of 14:37.02.
The Tide will have Steven Boozer going in the discus on Thursday with the qualifying round scheduled for approximately 5:15 p.m. CT. Also competing for Alabama on Thursday will be Alex Korir in the 10k which is scheduled for 11:20 p.m. CT.
