A day after Steven Boozer qualified for the NCAA Championships in the discus at the NCAA Mid East Regional Championship in Bloomington, Indiana, the University of Alabama men’s track and field team had two more athletes advance through to the NCAA Championship meet.
“We’ve had a good year and we’re looking forward to keeping it going in Sacramento (at the NCAA Championships),” said Alabama head coach Harvey Glance.
Peter Etoot posted a third place finish in the 800m with a time of 1:49.35, his second fastest of the season in qualifying for the NCAA Championships.
Augustus Maiyo was the last runner to qualify in the 5k posting an eighth place finish with a time of 14:13.17, his second fastest of the season.
Keith Baker qualified in the decathlon earlier in the season with point total of 7,315.
The Tide is now waiting for word on whether or not Alex Korir qualified in the 10k. He posted a provisional time of 29:03.18.
Should Korir qualify, the Crimson Tide will send five athletes to the NCAA Championships in Sacramento, California.
