The Crimson Tide softball team’s march to the Women’s College World Series resulted in a final national ranking of seventh for the Tide.
Alabama finished the season with the second most wins in program history with 63 (66 in 2000) and the third most in the country this year. However despite winning a game in the WCWS, the Crimson Tide was unable to jump the California Bears for sixth in both polls. The Bears were eliminated from the tournament after two games.
The Southeastern Conference finished with four teams ranked in both polls (USA Today/NFCA Top 25 and ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25) with three of those teams finishing in the Top 10. Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia each finished in the Top 10 while the Auburn Tigers checked in at 20th and 22nd.
This season marks the fourth time (fourth in the last six year) that Alabama has finished ranked in the Top 10.
