Gabe Scott Named Second Team All-America by NCBWA

DALLAS, Texas - University of Alabama senior left fielder Gabe Scott has been named to the 2004 National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association All-American team in an announcement made by the NCBWA Board of Directors on Wednesday morning.
The Lake Charles, La., native was a Second-Team NCBWA All-American pick as an outfielder.
Scott played in 56 games this season and led the Crimson Tide with a .364 (67-for-184) batting average with 12 home runs and 35 RBI. He led the team in total hits, slugging percentage (.630) and on-base percentage (.494) and ranked second in doubles (13), home runs and walks (35).
Scott also paced the Tide with 19 multiple hit games. He had a 27-game hitting streak from Feb. 25-April 23 and reached base in 41 straight games from Feb. 25-May 14.
He was a First Team All-SEC selection by the SEC Coaches and SEBaseball.com. Scott was also honored this season as SEC Player of the Week (April 11) after he went 7-for-12 with three home runs and eight RBI in a series win at No. 9 Ole Miss.
Off the field, he was a 2005 ESPN The Magazine Second-Team Academic All-American selection. He graduated with honors from The University of Alabama on May 7 with a degree in Finance. He was also named the Culverhouse Business School's Most Outstanding Finance Student in 2005.
