
Alabama Softball To Host NCAA Regional

Fresh off its championship in the Southeastern Conference Tournament Sunday afternoon in Gainesville, Fla., the NCAA tabbed the University of Alabama softball team to host Regional No.12 at the UA Softball Complex beginning Friday, May 20. Alabama is the No. 12 seed for the 64 team field.
The selection marks the third time in program history that the Crimson Tide softball team has hosted NCAA Regionals. UA also hosted in 2001 and 2003.
Alabama (57-13) will host two first time opponents in the four team regional, Mississippi Valley State (34-29) and Hofstra (41-14-1), as well as Arizona State (29-24), who the Tide defeated in Tempe, Ariz. in 2000 regional competition to advance to its first ever Women's College World Series.
Hofstra and Arizona State open the regional Friday at 4:00 p.m. Alabama and MVSU will follow at 6:30 p.m. Live stats for all the action will be available at www.rolltide.com. For ticket information or to purchase tickets, call 205-348-BAMA.
