UA TRAVELS TO OLE MISS WITH SEC LEAD
The No. 22 Alabama Crimson Tide (22-9, 6-3 SEC) looks to hold on to its lead in the Southeastern Conference Western Division, while ending another lengthy series losing streak to a divisional foe this weekend as the Crimson Tide meets the No. 9 Ole Miss Rebels (21-8, 5-4 SEC) in a three-game series at OU Stadium/Swayze Field in Oxford. The series opener is Friday, April 8 at 6:30 p.m. Alabama owns a one-game lead over Ole Miss, LSU and Auburn in the always tightly-contested SEC West race entering the fourth weekend of conference action. The Crimson Tide has won six of its first nine SEC games this season after winning only 10 SEC games all of last year en route to an 11th place finish. The Ole Miss series is the first of two back-to-back road series for Alabama and third of five straight series against Top 25 teams. Alabama has lost its last four series to Ole Miss (2001-04) and has not won in Oxford since 1997. Alabama is coming off its first series win over LSU since the 1999 season, including a thrilling 5-4, 13-inning win over the No. 4 Tigers in the series finale that vaulted the Crimson Tide into the national rankings for the first time in two years. Alabama is ranked by USA Today Sports Weekly (No. 23) for the first time since the 2003 NCAA Regionals. The Tide is ranked by Collegiate Baseball (No. 23) for the first time since April 28, 2003 following a sweep of then No. 15 Arkansas. Alabama's game with Southeastern Louisiana was rained out on Wednesday, April 6 and will be made up at a later date.

*The Ole Miss Rebels (21-8, 5-4 SEC) are one of the best offensive clubs in the SEC.
*The Rebels have been ranked in the Top 10 nationally this season, but are coming off a series loss at Vanderbilt, where UM suffered back-to-back losses (April 2-3) for the first time this season.
*In fact, the Rebels bring a three-game losing streak into their series opener with Alabama, following a 10-9 loss at Southern Miss on Tuesday night.
*USM third baseman Beau Griffin capped a four-run, ninth inning with a three-run walk off home run to lift the Golden Eagles to victory in front a of record crowd of 5,377 at Pete Taylor Park.
*On offense, Ole Miss is batting .322 (324-for-1,007) with 37 home runs and 210 RBI.

*In nine SEC games, the Rebels defense is even better with an astounding .985 fielding mark. Ole Miss has just five errors and turned nine double plays in its first three SEC weekends.
*The Alabama game will be Ole Miss' first home game in more than two weeks. The Rebels are coming off an eight-game road swing.
*The Rebels are 15-3 at home this season.
*Ole Miss is 3-5 (.375) in one-run games.
*Alabama (1-3) and Ole Miss (2-3) have played two common opponents this year, including Southern Miss and Vanderbilt.
*Both teams lost two out of three at Vanderbilt the last two weekends. The Crimson Tide dropped a pair of one-run games before taking game three two weekends ago. Ole Miss dropped two games last weekend after winning game one.
