Men's Track Has Good Outing in Unfavorable Conditions

Despite battling extremely windy conditions and chilly weather, the University of Alabama men’s track and field team claimed nine event titles, three personal bests and a new NCAA Regional qualifying mark at this weekend’s Ole Miss Invitational.
“We had a great outing this weekend,” said Alabama head coach Harvey Glance. “We posted some PRs, an NCAA Regional qualifying mark and won several events and we did it all amid windy, chilly weather.”
Senior Curtis McBride had the brightest day for the Tide as he posted an NCAA Regional qualifying mark in the 400m hurdles with a personal best time of 52.43 while claiming first place as well.
Freshmen Josh Butler and Ron Riley kept their string personal bests going as they each posted their best times in the 110m hurdles. It was the fourth straight meet were both Butler and Riley posted personal bests in the event. Riley finished fifth with a time of 15.46 while Butler came in seventh with a time of 15.67.
Senior Chauncey Harris had another solid outing claiming first place in both the 100m (10.36) and the 200m (21.20). Senior LeMual Clayborn claimed first place in the 400m (47.36) and Alabama finished first, second and third in the 800m beginning with junior Peter Etoot (1:50.66) followed by freshmen Jonathan Rono (1:54.02) and Titus Koeh (1:54.08).
The Crimson Tide posted another 1-2-3 finish in the 1,500m starting with freshman Augustus Maiyo (3:51.71) who was followed by freshman Titus Koeh (3:53.01) and sophomore Alex Korir (4:00.41).
Both of Alabama’s relay teams found success with its 4x100m team claiming first place (40.93) as did the 4x400m team (3:11.71).
Stephen Boozer continued his strong performance in the discus with his third first place finish of the season with a meet-long throw of 179’03.00”.
