Tide Women's Tennis Loses to No. 7 Vanderbilt

The Alabama women’s tennis (6-10, 1-6) team lost the first of six straight home matches Friday night to No. 7 Vanderbilt, 6-1.
After three separate rain delays forced the match to be moved indoors for singles, Vandy finished off the Tide by winning the first three singles matches completed, all in straight sets.
Robin Stephenson earned Alabama’s only win in singles. No. 7 Stephenson defeated No. 8 Audra Falk, 7-6, 3-6, 1-0(10-7). The third set of the match was played as a 10-point tie-breaker after Vanderbilt clinched the victory.
Alabama remains winless on the season when it looses the doubles point. Vandy jumped out to a 1-0 lead by winning two of three doubles matches. Stephenson and McElveen claimed victory for Alabama at No. 1 doubles by defeating Audra Falk and Amanda Taylor, 8-6.
Alabama will be back in action Sunday afternoon at 12 p.m. against No. 5 Kentucky. The match will be played at the UA Tennis Complex.
