The Alabama women’s track and field team is 13th in the latest Trackwire National rankings, up four spots from a week ago.
The Tide has gotten off to a very fast start this season, a start that head coach Sandy Fowler is hoping to build on through the season. In addition to the team ranking, Alabama’s 4x100m relay is ninth this week.
Individually, junior Beth Mallory is second in the discus and sixth in the hammer throw. Junior Beau Walker is third in the 400m hurdles and ninth in the 100m hurdles. Junior Aymara Albury, who redshirted the indoor season, is 10th in the shot put while junior Tasha Pharr is 11th in the triple jump.
The Tide splits it squad in two this weekend, with Walker, Albury and Mallory, along with juniors Tahesia Harrigan, Majik Reed and Kou Luogon headed for the Mt. Sac Relays in Walnut, Calif. while the rest of the team will travel to Knoxville, Tenn. for the Sea Ray Relays.
