TUSCALOOSA - Brandon Hollinger, a 5-foot-11, 175 pound senior guard at LeFlore High School in Mobile has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend and play basketball at the University of Alabama.
Hollinger is the 2005 6A Player of the Year. He averaged 19 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4.5 steals his senior season and was a 2005 1st team All-State selection as well as 1st team Super 5 and the Southwest Regional Player of the Year. Hollinger led LeFlore to a 35-1 record and No. 2 national ranking before falling in the 6A championship game. He is coached at LeFlore by Otis Hughley.
"Brandon is an excellent player and a fierce competitor," said Alabama coach Mark Gottfried. "He led his team to the state finals and a 35-1 record. He knows how to win and has been very well coached. We have done well with guys in our state that may not have been ranked by the experts that high but develop into very good SEC players. He is a very good ballhandler and shooter and is extremely quick. He will add depth in our backcourt and won't back down from anyone. He reminds me of Tyus Edney who played for us at UCLA."
