Saturday night the Alabama soccer team hosted former Crimson Tide legends at the 2005 Alabama Soccer Alumni Game.
Current Tide players squared off against the Alumni team, winning 9-1, but the night wasn’t about the numbers on the scoreboard.
“This was just a fantastic weekend,” head coach Don Staley said. “It was great to see all the former players back and get a chance to see the families they have built. I know they enjoyed being back and seeing our new facilities and what they’ve had a hand in creating here at Alabama. We’re proud of all of them.”
Prior to Saturday’s game the weekend included a social gathering on Friday night where the Tide legends had an opportunity to meet this year’s team as well as catch up with each other.
In Saturday’s action, several players had big nights on the field. Jordan O’Banion and Sue Baker each collected two goals while Libby Probst earned three assists. Probst even scored a goal herself. Also scoring for the current Tide team was Cally Morrill, Rebecca Baker, Leigh Alexander and Allison DeLisle. Late in the second half Danielle Watson got the Alumni on the board with their lone goal of the night.
