Alabama 14th After Day Two of NCAA Championships

The Alabama men are 14th after day two of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Minneapolis, Minn.
The Crimson Tide has scored 64 points on a mix of standout individual performances and solid relay swims. Auburn is first, just ahead of Stanford. Arizona, Cal-Berkeley, and Florida round the top-5.
Sophomore Vlad Polyakov took fourth in the 100 breaststroke with a school record of 53.26. He shaved a quarter of a second off the previous Alabama mark which he set earlier this year. As a freshman he was ninth in this event. Tomorrow, the last day of the championships, Polyakov will swim his specialty, the 200 breaststroke, where he is seeded second. As a freshman he was second in the 200.
Senior Stewart Smith, who was fourth in Thursday's one-meter diving event, took 12th off the three-meter board with 534.65 points. Smith and junior Aaron Ashworth will compete off the platform tomorrow.
Polyakov, along with senior Franck Southon, sophomore Apostolis Tsagkarakis and junior Darren Erasmus combined to take 11th in the 200 medley relay with a 1:28.30. Erasmus and Tsagkarakis will swim the 100 freestyle on Saturday while Southon will swim the 200 backstroke.
