Veteran play-by-play announcer David Crane and Chris Stewart will describe the action from the Joe this Wednesday night. The game is also slated to be televised by The Alabama Cable Network with Gary Harris (play-by-play) and Scott McClanahan (analyst). ALABAMA WRAPS UP HOMESTAND WITH JSU
Coming off its first Southeastern Conference series sweep since the 2003 season, the Alabama Crimson Tide (18-5, 3-0 SEC) baseball team steps out of Conference on Wednesday, March 23 to host the Jacksonville State Gamecocks (7-10) at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The JSU game wraps up a season-long 16-game homesand for the Crimson Tide. Alabama is currently 13-2 (.867) on the homestand and has won its last four games. The Crimson Tide opened the home-stand by winning its first eight games, its longest winning streak since the 2003 season. Jax State has had Alabama's number over the last seven years, winning four of seven meetings. The Gamecocks have also beaten the Crimson Tide two years in-a-row, including last year's dramatic 4-3 win at Rudy Abbott Field in Jacksonville. Robby Goodson singled and Scott Smith slammed a two-run, walk-off home run off freshman LHP Wade LeBlanc to give JSU the win. The Gamecocks won the last meeting here in Tuscaloosa during the 2003 season as they posted an 5-3 win. Alabama is 2-1 (.667) against in-state teams this season and has avenged both losses from the 2004 season to Samford and Birmingham Southern. Alabama's loss was a 7-1 setback to UAB at Young Memorial Field on Feb. 24.

SCOUTING REPORT: Jax State Gamecocks
*The Jax State Gamecocks (7-10) have struggled early on this season and enter the Alabama gave having lost three of their last four games.
*JSU lost two out of three at home this past weekend to Furman. After winning the opener, Jax State dropped the last two games and the series.
*Overall, Jax State is batting .232 (135-for-582) with five home runs and 63 RBI.
*JSU is averaging 4.2 runs and 7.9 hits through the first 17 games.
*The Gamecocks have struggled in the past four games. JSU has scored only 13 runs and tallied 19 hits in those four games en route to a 1-3 record.
*In the last four games, JSU is batting .158 (19-for-120) with just two extra base hits and seven RBI.

*JSU has also had its share of troubles on defense this season. The Gamecocks have made 40 errors and are fielding .942 through 17 games.
*JSU has made at least one error in 16 of 17 games, including 12 in-a-row. JSU made a season-high five erorrs in a 5-4 loss to Louisiana Monroe on Mar. 6th.

*Jax State is one of only three schools to win a national championship in football, basketball and baseball, joining Michigan and Ohio State.
*JSU Director of Athletics Jim Fuller played football at Alabama for Paul Bryant from 1964-67 and later served as the offensive line coach under Ray Perkins (1983-86), Bill Curry (1987-89), Gene Stallings (1990-96) and Mike DuBose (1997) before his retirement into private business.
*JSU senior third baseman Clint Carroll is a native of Tusclaoosa and graduate of Hillcrest High School, where he played three years for coach Dennis Alvarez.
