Senior Anne Poleska Second at NCAA Championships

Alabama senior Anne Poleska finished her career Saturday night with her fourth top-3 national finish in the 200 breaststroke at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships held on the Purdue campus this weekend.
Poleska took second in her signature event with a time of 2:11.74. The Krefeld, Germany native, who was third as a freshman and sophomore in the NCAA 200 breaststroke was second as a junior and a senior. She finished behind Stanford freshman Caroline Bruce.
She finishes her career as a six-time Southeastern Conference breaststroke champion, including four 200 titles and the SEC record in that event. She owns five individual school records as well. Internationally, Poleska earned a bronze medal in this summer's Olympic games in the 200 breaststroke.
Alabama finished 21st with 44 points in the team race. It marked Alabama's fifth consecutive year in the top-25 and second year at 21. Alabama has posted 24 top-25 national finishes since 1976. Georgia won the team race, followed by Auburn, Arizona, Florida and Stanford.
Senior Arlene Semeco was 29th in the 100 freestyle with a time of 50.14 while sophomore Victoria Genova was 32nd in the 200 butterfly with a 2:01.60.
