Alabama Qualifies Three Divers for NCAA Championships

Alabama advanced three divers from the NCAA Zone B Championships to the national swimming and diving championships.
Senior Stewart Smith and junior Aaron Ashworth qualified for the men's championships, held in Minneapolis, Minn. March 24-26, while junior Crystal Rasmussen will travel to the women's championships held in Lafayette, Ind. this week.
Smith and Ashworth was one of 13 men to earn bids from Zone B while Rasmussen was one of 11 women.
Smith and Ashworth finished in the top-10 on all three events of the zone meet and will both make return trips to the NCAA Championships. It will be Smith's third trip and Ashworth's second. Rasmussen is also making her second trip. All three athletes have earned All-American honors.
Smith finished sixth off the platform on Sunday, the meet's last day, with 464.30 points while Ashworth was seventh with 449.95 points. Smith was fourth off the one-meter and fifth off the three-meter and Ashworth was fourth off the three-meter board and 10th off the one-meter.
Rasmussen didn't compete off the platform, finishing the meet with a seventh place finish off the one-meter and 14th off the three-meter finish. Sophomore Karissa Tuthill was 15th off the platform with 315.85 points.
