Walker No. 1 Seed in the SEC 60-meter Hurdles

Alabama’s Beau Walker came into the Southeastern Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships held in Fayetteville, Ark. This weekend as the league’s top seed in the 60m hurdles, and she goes into tomorrow’s finals of the event the same way.
Walker ran a career best 8.19 in the hurdles, the fastest in preliminaries by more than a tenth of a second. Junior LaTasha Pharr will also run again tomorrow, taking sixth in the prelims with an 8.43, a tenth better than her previous best this season and an NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
Junior Beth Mallory used a season best throw in the shot put, 51 feet 10.5 inches, to take third place. She bettered her season best by two feet and earned an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the process.
Junior Tahesia Harrigan earned a spot in tomorrow’s 60m dash finals with a season best 7.36 in prelims, good for eighth place. Harrigan finished ninth in the long jump with a leap of 19-02. Sophomore Julia Hicks was ninth in the 3000m run with a 9:54.69.
In addition to the 60m hurdles and 60m dash finals tomorrow, the meet’s final day, at the Tyson Track Center, Alabama has several other events to look forward to, including the triple jump, where Pharr is the top seed, and the weight, where Mallory holds the school record.
