Men's Track Completes Second Day at SEC Championships

With the second day of competition in the books, head men’s track and field coach Harvey Glance has a lot to smile about.
Glance saw his charges set a school record, record an NCAA qualifying mark, score record Top 10 marks in school history and help the Tide to sixth place standing in the SEC Indoor Championships.
Freshman Michael Cooley recorded the eighth fastest time in Alabama history in the 200m with a time of 47.53. Fellow freshman Augustus Maiyo recorded a time of 8:08.95 in the 3k, also the eighth fastest time in school history. Maiyo’s performance gained the Tide three points.
Gabe Warren posted a mark of 6’11.50” in the high jump for fifth place and four points while Roy Jossfolk posted a jump of 6’08.00” finishing eighth and winning a point for the Tide.
Keith Baker scored a school record 5,332 points in the heptathlon, his second NCAA provisional mark of the season en route to a third place finish scoring six points for Alabama.
Juniors Chauncey Harris and Peter Etoot both qualified for the finals of their respective events. Harris qualified in the 60m with a time of 6.77 and Etoot in the 800m with a time of 1:50.55. They’ll both compete in the finals on Sunday.
The Crimson Tide currently sits in sixth place with 14 points.
