TUSCALOOSA - The University of Alabama women's basketball team begins play in the final week of the regular season in Nashville against the No. 20 Vanderbilt Commodores on Thursday night at 7 p.m. in Memorial Gym.
The Crimson Tide, 13-12 overall and 4-8 in the Southeastern Conference, look to snap a current four-game losing skid in their final road game of the season. Bama suffered a disappointing 66-57 loss at South Carolina on Sunday in their last game.
Vanderbilt (19-6, 8-4 SEC) has won six of their last seven and two straight including a 76-69 win at Florida this past Sunday. The Commodores are currently tied for 3rd in the SEC standings with Georgia and are looking to earn a first-round bye in next week's SEC Tournament with a win. Vandy leads the SEC in scoring at 80.2 points per game.
Thursday's game marks the 29th all-time meeting between the Tide and 'Dores with Vanderbilt holding a 17-11 edge. Vandy has won four of the last five games but Alabama stunned the Commodores last season in Tuscaloosa by handing them an 81-69 defeat. The Crimson Tide has not posted a win in VU's Memorial Gym owning a 0-10 mark.
