While the University of Alabama men’s track and field program continues to shine, Alabama alumni continue to make great strides around the world this past weekend.
Former Alabama long jump national champion Miguel Pate jumped 26’09.25” in the long jump for the win at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Pate’s jump was the third best in the world to date. His training partner Savante Stringfellow, who is also being coached by Alabama field coach Rod Tiffin, jumped 26’08.50” for second place. His mark was the sixth best in the world.
Elsewhere for the Crimson Tide track program, former Bama national champion Tim Broe won the 4k race at the US Cross Country Championships in Vancouver, WA. Broe, who won the 2000 NCAA 3,000m Steeplechase championship, posted a time of 11:37.8, which qualifies him for the World Cross Country Championships next month in France.
