Alabama Diving Puts Three in SEC Championship Finals

On day two of the Southeastern Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, held on the Florida campus this week Alabama put three divers into the finals.
The first three days of the championships belong exclusively to the divers. On the women's side junior Crystal Rasmussen took sixth in the final off the one-meter while sophomore Jenna Hastreiter was eighth. Rasmussen, who was 14th yesterday off the three-meter board, scored 267.50 points off the one-meter board while Hastreiter, 11th yesterday, scored 247.40 points today.
Sophomore Karissa Tuthill was 20th off the one-meter, scoring 200.75 points in the preliminaries.
On the men's side, junior Aaron Ashworth finaled for the second day in a row scoring 543.75 points off the three-meter, good for fifth place. Ashworth was sixth off the three-meter yesterday. Senior Stewart Smith and sophomore Alan Harris both scored off the three-meter, taking 11th and 12th respectively. Smith scored 496.75 points while Harris amassed 462.65.
Freshman Chad Frichtl placed one place out of scoring position, scoring 424.20 points to take 17th place.
Both the men and women will tackle the platform event on Sunday. The swimming portion of the championships get underway on Wednesday.
