OXFORD, Miss. - The University of Alabama women's basketball team plays its second consecutive Southeastern Conference road game on Sunday when the Tide visits Ole Miss for a 2 p.m. tip-off in Tad Smith Coliseum.
The Crimson Tide, who slipped to 13-9 overall and 4-5 in the SEC after a hard-fought 83-68 loss at Arkansas on Thursday night, look to regain their winning ways. Alabama has only lost back-to-back games once this season.
Ole Miss (15-7, 5-4 SEC) has had a week off from competition following a loss last Sunday at No. 5 Tennessee. The Lady Rebels have lost back-to-back games heading into Sunday's contest, but they have been a strong team at home this year boasting a 9-2 mark. Sophomore phenom Armintie Price leads the Lady Rebels in both scoring (15.2 point per game) and rebounding (9.7 rebounds a game). Price also leads the SEC and ranks 21st in the country in rebounds.
Alabama trails 23-16 in the all-time series with Ole Miss, but the Crimson Tide have had some recent success winning four of the last five and 13 of 16. Bama has also posted a win in each of its last three visits to Oxford. Sunday's game features the top two rebounding squads in the SEC as Ole Miss tops the league charts and is followed closely by the Crimson Tide. UM's Price and UA's Dee Merriweather both rank among the conference leaders on the boards.
Sports Radio 1420 AM "The Tusk" will carry the Bama-Ole Miss game live on the radio and also over the internet at www.rolltide.com. Real time live statistics of the game are also available at the Ole Miss athletic website: www.olemisssports.com
Following Sunday's game at Ole Miss, the Crimson Tide takes a brief break from its road swing with a home game on Thursday against in-state rival Auburn. The Tide and Tigers are slated to tip their rematch off at 8 p.m. in a game being televised live by CSS.
