Volleyball: Abbi Blackburn's NCAA Journal, Day 3

We entered our locker-room and were greeted by tons of signs wishing us good luck and making the room feel more like home. Daisy got us pumped up doing her honorary “dance” for pre-match and I did my best job of imitating her.
We started the match with great support form our biggest fans??our families. Potsy and I had our regular chit-chats during warm-ups (you know what I’m talking about Potter!) and everything went as smoothly as possible. The game was, well, disappointing to say the least. I know everyone wanted this win more than anything, but tonight was not our night. The Ohio girls played a great match and we just didn’t have enough to answer them.
Though it was and is a hard loss to take, this team took and important step for Alabama volleyball. The things that we accomplished this year began a long time ago before any of us even dreamed of wearing the crimson uniform. This year has been, to say the least, quite a journey. I’ll never forget the first match against Kansas. I remember after the match realizing that great things were destined for this team. It has been an amazing year, even with all its ups and downs. For Potsy, Jess and MB it was their last year, but what a way to go out. We couldn’t have made it without them or anyone on this team. All year it has been a total team effort from the starters all the way to the last person on the bench. We have grown into a great team and a tight-knit family and I wouldn’t trade any one of the moments from this season for the world. It has been well worth all the work.
Roll Tide,
Abbi Blackburn
P.S. I want to say thanks to everyone that joined us on this trip??especially Don Don the radio man for his great radio commentary, amazing dance moves and for joining our make-shift family.
