Tide Volleyball Falls 3-0 to No. 6 Florida

The Alabama volleyball team fought hard, but fell to the No. 6 Florida Gators 3-0 on Friday night in the CAVE. The Tide dropped to 20-6 overall, 8-5 in Southeastern Conference play. The Gators improved to 22-2 overall, 12-1 in the SEC.
The Gators took game one 30-22 by hitting .500. The Tide managed to keep the second and third games close all the way to the finish, but fell 30-28 in both games. For the match, Florida out-hit Alabama .385 to .260. Florida also had a slight edge in kills, 55-53 and assists, 54-51.
"Every player on this team played their best game tonight and that's exciting." Alabama head coach Judy Green said. "I like how our team played. I liked our attitude. I'm proud of how we competed. Our players aren't happy that they lost, but they should be proud of the way they played."
Sophomore Bridget Fuentez paced the Tide offense with a match high 17 kills to go along with a .389 hitting percentage. Senior Kelley Potter also had a big night for UA with 13 kills and a .435 hitting percentage. Freshman Amy Pauly contributed 12 digs for Alabama.
Kisya Killingsworth led the Gators with 13 kills on the night. All-America Jane Collymore had 12 kills while Kari Klinkenborg posted 10 and hit .750 for the match.
The Tide celebrates Senior Day Sunday afternoon in the CAVE against the Georgia Bulldogs. The Tide will be honoring the careers of Kelley Potter, Jessica Yearout and Mary Beth Moore. First serve of the match is set for 3:00 p.m.
