
Alabama Volleyball Hosting Ole Miss Sunday Afternoon

The Alabama volleyball team will look to continue its best ever start in Southeastern Conference competition Sunday afternoon in the CAVE as the Crimson Tide hosts the Ole Miss Rebels. Alabama is 19-3 overall this season and is 7-2 in the SEC. Ole Miss is 7-14 overall, 1-8 in league play.
Alabama won its fifth straight SEC match Wednesday night with a 3-0 sweep of Auburn while Ole Miss was swept by Mississippi State in Starkville.
Reigning SEC player of the week Crystal Hudson has been blistering the ball of late for the Tide, posting better than a .400 hitting percentage in four of the last five matches. The sophomore middle blocker is leading the SEC with a .397 hitting percentage on the season. The Hueytown native also ranks second on the Tide with 3.51 kills per game. Fellow sophomore Bridget Fuentez leads the Tide in kills per game with a 3.77 average. The Tomball, Texas native ranks second on the squad in digs, averaging 3.05 per game.
Senior Jessica Yearout stands second in the SEC in digs per game, averaging 4.76 per contest and has reached double figures in digs in 15 of UA's last 16 matches. Sophomore Brigitte Slack directs the Tide offense and is averaging 12.66 assists per game.
Ole Miss is led by Nikki Hill and Jaclyn Toohey. Hill ranks ninth in the SEC with a 3.97 kill per game average. Toohey is averaging 3.39 kills per game. Nicole Mahan leads the Rebels with 3.08 digs per game.
The Tide has won 13 straight matches over Ole Miss including a sweep of the Rebels in Oxford earlier this month. The win was the first in Alabama's current five match winning streak. Freshman Sarah Snider paced the Tide in the match with 12 kills and Slack recorded a double-double for Alabama with 26 assists and 14 kills. Alabama out-hit the Rebels .241 to .077 in the contest.
