Alabama sophomore Crystal Hudson, a key to the Crimson Tide’s wins over South Carolina and Tennessee this past weekend has been named Southeastern Conference Volleyball Player of the Week.
A standout for the Tide all season, Hudson posted 35 kills over the weekend for an average of 5.0 per game and hit .441. She also led the Tide in averaging 5.93 points per game as well. The star middle blocker also had eight blocks in the two matches.
“It’s a very deserving honor for Crystal,” Alabama head coach Judy Green said. “She had a stellar weekend on both sides of the ball.”
The Hueytown native had a career high 23 kills in leading the Tide to its first win over the Lady Vols since 2001. Hudson has led UA to a 6-2 league record, its best ever SEC start. She currently ranks third in the conference in hitting percentage with a .385 mark.
