TUSCALOOSA –University of Alabama volleyball head coach Judy Green announced the additions of Amy Pauly and Christie McKee to the Crimson Tide roster for this fall.
The incoming duo joins a group of three players – Lindsey Buteyn, Brooks Webster and Sarah Snider – inked by Alabama in the NCAA’s early signing.
Pauly, a 5-4 defensive specialist/setter from Burr Ridge, Ill., was a three-year volleyball letterwinner at Hinsdale South High School. A two-time All-West Suburban Gold Conference first-team honoree, she was also named to a trio of all-area squads as a senior including third-team by the Chicago Sun Times. Pauly is a multi-sport standout at HSHS, having earned three letters in basketball and All-State honors in badminton. She has posted back-to-back Top 10 finishes at the ISHA State Badminton Tournament and helped guide her hoop team to a conference championship in 2003.
“Amy is a very gifted athlete who plays with a lot of passion,” said Green. “She possesses a fierce competitiveness that allows her to excel as a defensive player. Amy has been extremely successful in both team and individual sports throughout her high school career and I look for her to bring that experience and competitive attitude with her to our team this fall.”
McKee, a 5-9 outside hitter from Huntsville, Ala., was a four-year letterwinner at Catholic High School. A four-time Huntsville Times All-Metro team honoree, she was named to the Regional All-Tournament team this past season. McKee currently plays club volleyball for the Huntsville Juniors and was a former standout with the Rocket City Volleyball Club. She also excels off the court as a member of the National Honor Society.
“Christie brings three major components to the Alabama Volleyball program” stated Green. “First and foremost, she provides us strong depth at the outside hitter position. Secondly, her work ethic fits in well with our team and she has a desire to improve. Finally, adding an in-state player to our roster gives us a player that possesses a special love and connection to the University of Alabama.”
Alabama’s five newcomers join a Crimson Tide program coming off an impressive 21-9 record last year that included an SEC Western Division co-championship and also marked a sixth consecutive winning record.
