University of Alabama men's head track and field coach Harvey Glance hoped to see some improvement from his team at this week's Niswonger Invitational and he got what he was looking for, as the Crimson Tide claimed four championships and set a plethora a personal bests.
Chauncey Harris claimed the 60m dash title in a time of 6.81 and also posted a second place finish in the 200m crossing the finish line in 21.34.
Gabe Warren laid claim to the high jump title, en route to posting a personal best mark of 6'11.75". Roy Jossfolk also recorded a personal best in the high jump finishing sixth with a jump of 6'08.00".
Both relays for the Tide were just as successful as the 4x400m team of LeMual Clayborn, Curtis McBride, Jeff Fedler and Michael Cooley claimed first place in a time of 3:13.02 while the distance medley team of Fedler, Marcus Siwemuke, McBride and Peter Etoot also claimed first with a time of 10:00.62, over two seconds better than the its nearest competitor.
Keith Baker also set personal bests in the pole vault (14'01.25") and the high jump (6'04.00").
"All in all it was a real positive meet for us," said Glance. "Everybody knew Alabama was in the building. We showed great competitive spirit and competed well. We set a number of personal bests including Keith Baker who had two PRs which will go a long way towards him helping us in the multi-events later in the season."
The Tide will return to action next weekend at the Clemson Multi-Event meet.
