TUSCALOOSA - The University of Alabama women's basketball team hits the road to face an old foe on Sunday as the Tide travels to Auburn to play the Tigers at 2 p.m. in Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum.
The Crimson Tide looks to build on their impressive 75-62 win on Thursday night over South Carolina at Coleman Coliseum. The win snapped a two-game losing skid for the Alabama an improved the squad's record to 11-6 overall and 2-2 in the Southeastern Conference.
Auburn (9-8, 0-4 SEC) is looking to snap their current six-game losing streak that included an 81-71 home loss to No. 7 Tennessee on Thursday night. The Tigers, under the guidance of first-year head coach Nell Fortner, have struggled through a streaky season thus far. AU lost their first two games of the year before winning nine in a row prior to their current slide.
Alabama owns an ever so slight 30-28 edge in the all-time series with their rivals, but Auburn has won three of the last four meetings including a season sweep of the pair's two games last season. The Tide is looking for its first win on the "Plains" since posting a 60-57 victory in 2002.
Sports Radio 1420 AM "The Tusk" will carry the Bama-Auburn game live on the radio and also over the internet at www.rolltide.com. Real time live statistics are also available at the Auburn athletic website: www.auburntigers.com
Following Sunday's tilt at Auburn, the Crimson Tide will enjoy a week off from competition before returning next Sunday (Jan. 30) in a rematch with Mississippi State in Tuscaloosa. The MSU game is the first of a three-game homestand for Alabama.
