Baseball Team Holds First Scrimmage This Weekend

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The University of Alabama baseball team will hold its first preseason scrimmages this weekend at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.
The Crimson Tide will host a nine-inning intrasquad games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Sunday scrimmage may be postponed to early next week as temperatures are expected to only reach the low 30s in Tuscaloosa on Sunday afternoon.
Alabama's first preseason scrimmage will be Friday, Jan. 21 at 3:30 p.m. The team will also scrimmage at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22. The Sunday time has yet to be determined.
The Crimson Tide will open the 2005 season with a four-game series at the University of Hawai'i in Honolulu. The 2005 season opener is exactly three weeks from today as the face the Hawai'i Rainbows at 6:35 p.m. (HST) on Thursday, Feb. 10.
Alabama's home opener is Friday, Feb. 18 against the UNC Asheville beginning at 6:30 p.m. After the four-game road trip to Hawai'i, the Crimson Tide will then play 19 of its next 20 games at the Joe.
