The University of Alabama men’s track and field head coach Harvey Glance will get his first look at his young team in action this weekend as the Crimson Tide heads to Lexington, Kentucky for the Kentucky Invitational.
While Glance isn’t sure what to expect from the youngsters on his team he does have expectations of the veterans.
“I’d like to see some of our veteran guys challenge their PRs immediately,” said Glance. “I want to see the team as a whole get off to a good start. Before the Christmas break I had a good feeling about the team. Any work the guys did over the break will show this weekend. All in all I expect to see some good marks.”
The Tide will look to its “veterans”, sophomores Steven Boozer and Alex Korir and juniors Chauncey Harris and Peter Etoot, to carry the team. Baker will lead Alabama in throws and field events while Harris will be the go-to-guy in the sprints and Etoot and Korir will push the Tide in distance events.
The meet is scheduled to begin on Friday, January 14 at 5:00 p.m. with the men’s pole vault.
