Tide's Polyakov Named SEC Swimmer of the Week

Alabama sophomore Vlad Polyakov was named the Southeastern Conference Swimmer of the Week by the league office today.

Polyakov is undefeated in the breaststroke events this season, including a win in the 200 breaststroke last Friday against Georgia. He also holds the four fastest 200 times in the league this season and his best time this year is more than four seconds better than his closest competitor. He also ranks first in the 100 breaststroke by more than a second.

Polyakov and his Crimson Tide teammates return to action Saturday, Jan. 22 against Florida in the Alabama Aquatic Center.
