Alabama sophomore tennis player Joseph Jung finished as the runner-up Sunday at the Baylor Invitational.
Jung played both the semifinals and the finals on Sunday. In the semifinals he defeated the No. 7 seed Fabrizio Sestini 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the finals. However, Jung ran into Baylor’s Matija Zgaga in the finals. Zgaga defeated Jung in straight sets 6-2, 6-1.
Jung entered the tournament ranked No. 80 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association and won five of six matches in the tournament. He also defeated the tournament’s No. 6 and 7 seeds before losing to Zgaga, the No. 5 seed.
“This was a great tournament for Joseph and a great way for us to start off the year,” said Alabama head coach Billy Pate.
