Tide Eighth Going Into Final Round at ETSU Tournament

JOHNSON CITY, TENN. - The University of Alabama men’s golf team opened its 2004-05 season on Saturday with two rounds of play at the Bank of Tennessee at the Ridges Invitational and is in eighth place going into Sunday’s third and final round.
Alabama is ten over par as a team, shooting par, 288, in the morning round but shooting ten over in the afternoon.
Oklahoma leads the field of 15 teams and is six under par (290-282/572). Clemson, Tennessee and TCU are tied at second (574), followed by Wake Forest (578), LSU (580), Virginia (293), Alabama (288-298/586), South Carolina (588), North Carolina (589), Virginia Tech, Duke and Florida State in a three-way tie at 11th (590), Kansas (591) and host East Tennessee State (593).
Oklahoma’s Anthony Kim leads the field of 81 golfers at eight under par. He shot 68-68/136. He’s a stroke ahead of Clemson’s Brian Duncan (68-69/137).
Alabama’s low scorers for the day include a golfer making his Alabama debut, Thomas Hagler. The transfer from Augusta State is tied at 27th at two over par. He shot 69-77/146. His teammate, Lance Walker, is among the tie with him. Walker shot 72-74/146. True freshman Mark Harrell is tied at 40th, having shot 73-75/148, and senior Clint Provost is tied at 47th after shooting 74-75/149.
The tournament, which is being played at the Ridges Golf and Country Club, concludes Sunday.
