Prep: Wingo was known as a big-hitter in the defensive backfield and was a three-year starter for the Hillcrest Patriots. In his senior season he accounted for 85 tackles that helped the Pats reach the 6A quarterfinals. He was a team captain and the second-leading tackler as a senior. Jake has 18 tackles against Wenonah his senior season. He also played basketball and baseball and as a senior, was voted Class Favorite, Most Athletic and Top Senior. Wingo joined Hillcrest teammates Cody Davis and Travis Robinson in the 2004 signing class.
Personal: Jake is the son of Cheri and Rich Wingo and has a younger brother, Luke. Dad, Rich, lettered for the Crimson Tide under Paul W. Bryant in 1976-78 and later played for the Green Bay Packers from 1979-86. Born 3-18-86. He is in pre-major studies.
