Albury Advances to Finals at IAAF World Jr. Championships

University of Alabama thrower Aymara Albury spent her sophomore season breaking records and testing herself against the best the NCAA has to offer. This summer, she is testing herself against the best Junior athletes in the world.
Albury is representing her native Bahamas at the 10th IAAF World Junior Championships held in Grosseto which is located in the Tuscany region of Italy. She competed in the preliminaries of the shot put, her specialty, qualifying for the finals. She took sixth place in the first flight of competition, posting a throw of 15.20-meters. She will compete again later this week.
Albury competed in the shot put at both the indoor and outdoor NCAA Championships this past season. She also set the indoor and outdoor school records in that event. She also competed for the Bahamas at the 2004 Carifta Games, April 9-11, where she came away with double gold in the shot put and discus.
