EDITOR'S NOTE: This is the last in a series of daily journals written by Crimson Tide volleyball players. The journals will give a first-hand account of their experiences as they prepare for the 2004 season, and give an inside look at Alabama Volleyball.

Well, well, well, where do I start? This is the official end of my volleyball preseason here at Alabama. This preseason has been one of the best since I have been here; I think that Julie and Kory would agree also. We all have worked so hard and are taking huge strides everyday to reach our goal of the NCAA tournament. I really think that this is the team that can take us there. Today was our Crimson and White scrimmage and it simulated a typical game day for us volleytiders. We were all really excited to get to finally scrimmage, even though it was just against ourselves. There is something about putting on a Crimson Tide jersey that makes you want to play your best when you are on the court. Yeah, even when we are wearing our lovely crimson spandex. Yes, you read that correctly, we have crimson spandex. I would like to know where they got the idea to put us in crimson spandex (Kory you should know something about that, right?).
My day started off like usual, I woke up around 9, because I don’t know what it is like to sleep in any more. I had a good home cooked breakfast, courtesy of Mandy. We had serve and pass from 2:00-3:00. Then we had Olive Garden catered to us. YUM!!(right Katie) After pre-match we all chilled in the locker room and put on some tunes. Megan showed me how to do the worm. I will have that mastered in less than a week with her help! Crystal then helped us perfect our bunny hop dance. After all the dancing around in the locker room we took the floor. We warmed up for an hour and then we finally started to play. The Crimson team won the two 30 point games. I have to give a shout out to Juice, aka Crystal, for her first hit at the 10 foot line!!! AMAZING. We had a brief half time in between games 2 and 3. The White team came out ahead in the two 15 point games, jumping on the Crimson team. Our team defense was awesome, way to go Kory, Mary Beth and Jessica for the awesome digs. All in all it was a great scrimmage. This was just a preview of what is to come from us.
A good friend once told me that you must enjoy the journey and not be too fixed on the end results. The journey thus far has been an amazing one and I can’t wait to see where this season takes us. I am sure going to miss playing here at Alabama and miss all the wonderful people that I have met while I have been here (Abbi I don’t know what I will do with out you!). Come watch us play, where else can you get free admission, free food, and watch girls in crimson spandex???? Thanks to all the people who came to our scrimmage tonight. Come back Sept. 1, our home opener.
Roll Tide!!
