TUSCALOOSA – After two weeks of hard preseason practice work the Alabama Volleyball team is ready to show off a little as they host their annual Crimson-White scrimmage on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in the CAVE.
The event is free and open to the public and ninth-year head coach Judy Green hopes to see a lot of Crimson Tide faithful in the stands as her squad gets their first chance to put on the Bama uniform.
“These players have been working extremely hard during preseason practice,” said Green. “They are excited about getting the season started and the Crimson-White scrimmage is a fun way to get the real competitive juices flowing. A good, energetic crowd is important for this event for two reasons. We want to give our Alabama fans a sneak peek at what we’re working on and what they can expect from our team and it gives our newcomers the experience of playing in front of a crowd.”
The Crimson-White scrimmage marks the end of Alabama’s two-a-day practice schedule with the squad settling into a more regular practice plan coinciding with the start of university classes on Wednesday.
Following the scrimmage, the Crimson Tide turns its attention to the start of the regular season with their season opener on Sept. 1 against Alabama A&M in the CAVE. UA will also host the Crimson Tide Invitational on Sept. 3-4 with a field that includes Montana State, Xavier and the College of Charleston.
