The University of Alabama soccer team and the YMCA of Tuscaloosa will team up on Tuesday, August 24, 2004 to hold a youth soccer clinic for the participants of the YMCA youth soccer league.
This will be the 10th consecutive year that Alabama head coach Don Staley hosts the pre-season youth clinic. The clinic will be held at the University of Alabama recreation fields and run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Alabama soccer players and coaches alike will be on hand to give instruction and guidance.
Staley is excited about having the chance to reach the estimated 400 kids who will participate and help energize them about playing soccer as well as improve their game.
“Through the years the YMCA has done a great job of offering youth soccer players the opportunity to excel in this sport,” said Staley. “I hope this clinic helps educate these young players during their developmental years.”
The night will be split up into two sessions. The under six and under eight age groups’ clinic will begin at 5:30 p.m. while the under 10 and under 12 ages groups’ clinic will begin at 6:30 p.m.
