Perhaps youth finally caught up with the University of Alabama men’s track and field team as freshman Steven Boozer and sophomore Peter Etoot were unable to conjure the magic they had displayed all season in their respective events at the 2004 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Austin, Texas.
Etoot missed qualifying for the semifinals of the 800m by one spot when posted a tenth place finish in the event with a time of 1:48.14, missing the final qualifying spot by .11.
It was his third fastest time in the event this season.
Boozer posted a 26th place finish in the only round of the discus with a distance of 169’03.
However, not to be overlooked are Boozer’s and Etoot’s performances all season long. The two athletes combined recorded nine marks that rank in the school’s Top 10 all-time in either the 800m or the discus.
