
Tide Men's Track Shines at SEC Outdoor Championships

The University of Alabama men’s track and field team had a successful run this past weekend at the 2004 SEC Outdoor Championships held in Oxford, Mississippi.
Stephen Boozer, Todd Fayant, Erroll Hickenbottom and the Tide’s 4x100m relay team were all responsible for keeping Alabama alive in the points race.
Boozer posted a sixth place finish in the Discus throw with a distance 172’08 for three points, while Fayant scored five points en route to a fourth place finish in the 3k Steeplechase. Hickenbottom jumped 48’07.25” in the triple jump, posting a seventh place finish in the event, but scoring two points for Alabama. In relay action, Bama’s 4x100m Relay team also picked up two points with a time of 40.83 good enough for seventh place in the meet.
In addition to Alex Korir’s four points he scored when he finished fifth in the 10k in the first day of action, Korir collected four more points in the 5k with another fifth place finish. Overall the Tide finished with 20 points in the meet for a ninth place overall finish.
Alabama will take the week off from competition before heading to Baton Rouge, Louisiana for the NCAA Regional Championships.
