Tide Honors 2004 Basketball Team With Awards Reception

TUSCALOOSA - A capacity crowd of an estimated 500 fans gathered at the University of Alabama's Bryant Conference Center on Tuesday night to fete the 2004 Crimson Tide men's basketball team and its first ever school trip to the NCAA men's tournament's Elite Eight.
The annual Alabama Basketball awards reception is sponsored by the Tuscaloosa Tip-Off Club and TIDEPRIDE.
Alabama head coach Mark Gottfried and his coaching staff as well as the Crimson Tide players all attended the event which included the presentation of team awards. Winners on Tuesday night included:

In addition to the awards, the event included a season highlight video which drew cheers constantly while fans re-lived, on film, the Tide's play from the past season. Alabama finished the season at 20-13 overall and finished T-2nd in the Southeastern Conference's Western Division. After advancing to the SEC tournament quarterfinal, Alabama won three games in the NCAA tournament with wins against the then No. 1 ranked team in the country, Stanford, followed by a win against the defending national champions, Syracuse, along the way. Alabama's trip into the NCAA tournament's final field of eight teams was a first in school history as the Sweet 16 had been its final stop seven times previously for the men.
The event also marked the annual passing of the guard for the Tuscaloosa Tip-Off Club, a co-sponsor of the event. Chuck Hardin officially ended his tenure as the 2003-04 club president and David Rains took over as 2004-05 president.
