Beau Walker Named SEC Track Athlete of the Week

Beau Walker’s very good week just keeps getting better. The sophomore Alabama women’s track and field hurdler was named the Southeastern Conference Track Athlete of the Week the league office announced today.
Walker is coming off a stellar showing at the prestigious Drake Relays, where she won the 100 and 400m hurdles as well as anchoring two Tide relays to victory. She was named the 2004 Drake Relays “Outstanding Performer of the Meet”.
The Aurora, Co. native has shaved considerable time off her career-best time in both the 100 and 400 hurdles and is ranked in the national top-10 in both events.
Walker is the third member of the Alabama track and field team to earn conference Athlete of the Week honors this outdoor season. Junior Tasha Pharr earned the track honor during week one of the season and sophomore Beth Mallory earned the field accolade for week five.
Alabama returns to action this weekend at the Ole Miss Open in Oxford, Miss.
