The Alabama men and women's swimming and diving teams were both named Scholar-Athlete Teams by The College Swimming Coaches Association of America.
Both squads had better than the prerequisite 2.8 grade point average to earn the national honor. The Crimson Tide men were one of five Southeastern Conference schools to make the grade while the women were one of six conference teams.
"We're obviously very proud of this honor," first-year Alabama head coach Eric McIlquham said. "Our first priority is education and this tells us that we are on the right track in that area. Our student-athletes are getting the kind education that will hold them in good stead throughout their life."
Alabama's women, led by NCAA three-meter diving champion Lane Bassham, finished 21st at the NCAA Championships.
